Toronto, ON (ContentDesk) October 7, 2005 -- ERA announces grand opening of its first of a kind in British Columbia, Computer and Electronics Depot. The Electronic Recycling Association is proud to bring the system currently in place in Calgary and Edmonton to Ontario, Toronto, and the GTA.This Computer and Electronics Depot location will serve the businesses and individuals in Toronto, and the GTA as a point to drop off and deliver old computer and electronic equipment for donations and recycling.A large city wide program is going to be established with the depot acting a hub for thousands of old computers, laptops and electronics destined into landfills or incineration otherwise. Now old computers can be possibly given a new life through ERA's donation and reuse programs. Many local charities, non profit groups and low income communities will benefit from this program. Refurbished computer equipment is put back into the community, locally and abroad. E.R.A Director Bojan Paduh, a young entrepreneur from Calgary said: E-waste is the fastest-growing type of waste thrown out by corporations as the IT industry updates products faster and faster.
A new PC is now obsolete in two years and millions of them end up on landfill waste sites each year. It is just right that this waste is put under controlE.R.As priority is to reuse as many PCs and electronics as possible. Mr Paduh explained: "Reuse means the hazardous materials are not being let loose to do their worst and less new raw materials need to be extracted from the earth to make the next generation of computers and other electronic goods.Because we concentrate on Re-using your old equipment we can substantially reduce our clients recycling bills and also benefit their corporate social responsibility profile through our socially responsible schemes."The location for ERA's Toronto Computer and Electronics Depot is 63 Galaxy Blvd. Unit # 3, Etobicoke, Toronto area, Ontario, and the grand opening ceremony is scheduled for December.Companies and individuals from Toronto and area can already contact ERA to donate, remarket or recycle your surplus, excess, or obsolete computer equipment at www.era.ca or toll free at 1-877-9-ewaste.
